Hell

If you were brought up in a Christian family, you have heard of a place called Hell.  It's the bad place down in a pit somewhere in the center of the earth that is burning with fire. You have probably been taught that if you didn't accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, confess your sins, and ask Jesus to forgive your sins, you'll spend all of eternity down in hell after you die.  Where did this whole idea of hell come from?  Who was the first to write about it?  Could it be a real place or just something that was made up to scare people into accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior?  Believe in Jesus or go to hell for all of eternity!  This religious concept has caused people throughout history a lot of anxiety and fear.  What makes it really sad is that it's all just a fabricated religious story to get people to believe there's a God, accept Jesus as their savior and join the church.
