Mary Magdalene

Who was Mary Magdalene?  Was she just another one of Jesus' early apostles or could she have been more?  Could she have been his companion and lover, or maybe even his wife? Could that be why they had such a close relationship?  She must have been someone very special to Jesus because she was one of the women that witnessed the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross. (Matt. 27:56, Mark 15:40, John, 19:25. NKJB)   Mary Magdalene is also mentioned in every gospel regarding the resurrection of Jesus.  In Matthew, chapter 28, verse 1, it reads "Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb."  Mary Magdalene was also there with Mary, the mother of Jesus, when he was placed in the tomb. (Matt. 27:61)   In Mark, chapter 16, verse 1, it reads "Now when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices that they might come to anoint him."  In Luke's gospel, chapter 24, verse 10, it reads "It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the Apostles."  In the gospel of John, chapter 20, verse 1, it reads "On the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb".
