The Planet Earth has gone through many transformations over billions of years. Plate tectonics, volcanoes, and water erosion have all contributed to the formation of the earth's surface. Geologists estimate the earth's age to be approximately 4.6 billion years.  The oldest surface rocks are believed to be between 3.8 billion and 4 billion years old.  If the science of radioactive dating is correct, the claim of the Young Earth Creationist cannot be true.  There is no way that the earth is only thousands of years old!  This is only another attempt by creationist to make evolution match with the dates in their Bible!
